Nexion Travel Group – Day of Giving 2019

Mark your calendars for Thursday, July 11. Everyone throughout the Travel Leaders Group enterprise, including Nexion Travel Group staff, supplier partners and members, will join together once again in our Seventh Annual Travel Leaders Group Day of Giving.

With most schools now out of session, it’s the time of year when many children go hungry. According to statistics from Feeding America, one in every seven families struggle with hunger, and one in four children are food-deprived in the United States. As a Nexion Travel Group employee, member, supplier partner, friend or family, here’s how YOU can make a difference:

  • Donate non-perishable food to your local food bank
  • Volunteer time at your local food bank (If you are in the DFW area and would like to volunteer with the Nexion team July 11, please see below for more information)
  • Make a monetary donation using the link below. MATCHING EXTENDED!

From June 1-July 11, we ask that you join us in donating time, money and/or food to help reduce “food insecure” households in North Texas and in your local communities around the country. Then, be sure to tell us about efforts using the link below. Food banks are typically at their lowest levels during the summer months, and with schools on break, that means all too many school-aged children are going hungry. With your help, we can unite to help alleviate hunger where we live and work.

Please see below for volunteer FAQs and requirements:

  • What is the minimum age for volunteering?
The minimum age for volunteering is 5 years old. For safety reasons, children under the age of 5 are not allowed to participate in packing sessions. Please note: Everyone under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult (an adult is someone 18 years of age or older).
  • How do I get credit for my community service hours?
We are only able to sign-off on our specific FMSC Volunteer Service Hours forms. These forms are located at each of our sites & MobilePack locations. Sign-off should happen each time you volunteer.
We are happy to complete an FMSC Volunteer Service Hours form for your church, school or court ordered community service requirements. Please be sure to register online, check in when you arrive to pack (on your phone or on a computer wherever you are packing) and ask a staff member for a Volunteer Service Hours form each time you pack (at the end of the shift). We are unable to sign-off on another organization’s verification form. We are also unable to sign off on hours not registered in our system, so please check in for each shift you work, including back to back shifts worked the same day.
  • Do I need to arrive early for orientation?
Please plan to arrive 10-15 minutes prior to your packing session to check-in. Your orientation and packing instructions will take place during your scheduled shift time.
  • Are we supposed to wear any particular clothing?
We highly recommend all volunteers wear closed-toed shoes. If you volunteer in the warehouse, closed-toed shoes will be required. Otherwise, please come in clean, comfortable clothes.
  • Can we wear jewelry while packing?
Due to FDA compliance for food manufacturing plants, NO jewelry may be worn in the packing room. Please review our Jewelry Policy and share with fellow volunteers.
  • Can I volunteer if I’m sick/have been sick?
If you have had a cough, fever, diarrhea, pink eye, or have been vomiting or are contagious within the last 24 hours, we ask that you reschedule your packing time.
